The Australian Record Company (ARC) acquired the rights to the American Capitol catalogue in 1951 to enable Capitol material from USA. The ARC capitol 45s were in EP format only, and no known singles exist as all singles were issued as 78’s. Capitol Records along with London Records was taken over by EMI in March 1956 and the “new” purple label was born.
