Discontinued
Records was owned by Peter Atkins. He had various label's hits re-issued.
Records were pressed in New Zealand and Australia and distributed
in Australia exclusively by Discontinued Records (as stated on EP &
LP sleeves) through his record shops in Hurstville, Sydney and in Elizabeth
Street, Melbourne.
Most
re-issues were on the original label but 1980's design.
All
EPs (there were quite a few) were all compilations of 4 hits either by
Various or Specific artists with chart info on the back with unique sleeve
designs, not re-issues of existing EPs.
The
LPs were straight re-issues of the original album complete with a reproduction
of the original sleeves, but with the current label design, or in some
cases on Viking and a notation of Discontinued Records involvement.
All
records were issued in limited quantities. When Discontined closed, excess
stocks sold off to various “collector” record shops. Once they were gone
they were gone. |
