Fable
REcords was set up by Ron Tudor in 1970 during the Radio Ban (a dispute
between radio stations & record companies regarding royalties) and
started issuing cover versions by local artists of music that couldn’t
be played on radio during the dispute. Many of these became bigger hits
than the originals because we didn’t get to hear them until about 5 years
later when the ban was lifted. The label was later distributed by Astor,
then finally by EMI (with slight change of label colour) until the end
of vinyl.
