Linda
Lee was a very small independent label seemingly set up in 1964 as an outlet
for material by Billy Thorpe & the Aztecs and members of the band individually.
There seem to have been 7 issues on the original label. Poison Ivy (007)
becoming a national no.1 hit, so much so Linda Lee was taken over by Festival
and received a new label. Poison Ivy was also released on Festival with
the original catalogue no. LL-007 (instead of an FK no.) The label folded
after Billy Thorpe (& Aztecs) joined EMI to record for Parlophone in
1965. He stayed there until he formed his own company HAVOC in the early
70’s.
