Parlophone Records go way back to 1911 in Germany being manufactured by Carl Lindstrom, hence the trade mark of the pound sign "£" which in fact is a German "L" which stood for Lindstrom.
As far as Australian 45’s are concerned, like the other two house labels in the EMI stable, records started appearing around the same time. Record labels and covers followed the same pattern.
Parlophone was mainly reserved for jazz, sacred and comedy records similar to that of its English counterpart. In 1962, the signing of The Beatles who turned an unfashionable label into one of the top labels.
