Twin
Hits original releases were issued in Australia as the standard black RCA
label in 1961. They had 26 releases between numbers 101040 & 101268
with no mention of the Original US Label. (Operators or Twin Hits). The
label went to the Astor TH series in 1963. Twin
Hits was Astor’s “knock-off” label issuing material from the US. These
records were sold in department stores for about 1/5th the cost of a full
priced record. Astor kept the label until the late 60’s. RCA revived
the Twin Hits label based on the orange design and for the first time they
had a company sleeve. The Astor ones came in plain white sleeves. However
the “new” Twin Hits label didn’t last long only releasing 13 records. The
choice of material wasn’t very good.
