A subsidiary of printing and engineering firm White & Gillespie (Melbourne) founded in 1910. The recording division was set up in 1950 and was one first Australian record companies to release microgroove records.
W&G was one of Melbourne’s major companies and had distribution rights to many US companies including ABC Paramount, they released all kinds of music from Rock’n’Roll to religious as well as custom and private recordings, they were also involved in Radio commercials and serials as well as children’s & ethnic music.
The popular music part of it was run by producer Ron Tudor (later of Astor & Fable)
W&G subsidiary labels were GEM, In, TIME, GOLDEN FLEECE, EMBER & WORD.
