In
1931, Otto Stahmann in Berlin-Wilmersdorf founded the record company Schallplattenindustrie
Otto Stahmann – Brillant AG. Focus was the production of records with a
popular repertoire at an affordable price, designed to be sold in department
stores and shops. In mid 1937, the company was renamed
Tempo
Schallplatten GmbH Otto Stahmann.
The
arrival of beat music decreased the sales of cheap labels significantly
from the mid 1960s. Tempo closed in 1968. |
