Karusell
was founded by Carl-Gustaf Nirén and Simon Brehm in Sweden in 1952.
By the end of the '50s, they had opened regional branches in other territories
such as Denmark, Germany, and Norway. In 1962, a decade after formation,
the home office was purchased by Deutsche Grammophon.
In the late '60s, the Danish office was merged into Tono Records. The original Swedish label's name was changed to Polydor AB in 1970. Karusell was anufactured and distributed by Nor-Disc in Norway When Nor-Disc was sold to Phonogram in 1970, Karusell went with it. The label later issued LPs only. Here is a (very incomplete) discography for the Norwegian recordings. |
