First press
Philo Records was founded in 1945 by brothers Eddie and Leo Mesner. In 1946, the name was changed to Aladdin Records. The first 45's were pressed in 1951 - a gusty move since most of the label's output
 were sold to black record buyers - few had a 45 rpm record player.
On February 12, 1962, the Mesners sold the catalogue to Imperial Records.
