Back
Beat Records was launched in 1957 as the Houston-based soul sub-label of
Duke
Records, when it was managed by Don Robey. Back Beat was acquired by
ABC Records on May 23, 1973. The label's biggest hits included "Treat Her
Right" by Roy Head & The Traits, "Tell
Me Why" by Norman Fox &
The Rob-Roys, and "Everlasting Love" by Carl Carlton. In 1976, ABC discontinued
the Back Beat label.
499 is a bootleg and was never issued by Back Beat Records. |
