Harvest was launched in 1969 (like it's British counterpart) by Capitol
Records as an outlet for it's more esoteric releases. At the time Capitol
was winding down it's Tower subsidiary,
and some of it's artists moved over to Harvest. Primarily an LP label,
a few tracks pulled from LPs as singles were released on the main label,
Capitol.
In
1973 whilst Pink Floyds' "Dark Side of The Moon" was enjoing huge sucess,
Capitol released "Money" as their maiden Harvest single.
In
1983 while Duran Duran's "Hungry Like the Wolf" was climbing it's way to
the top of the charts, Capitol decided to close down Harvest and move it's
calalogue over to the parent label.
All
single releases used the Capitol 2000 and 5000 series numbering. |
