Jewel Records was started by Stan "The Record Man" Lewis in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1963. The Jewel label was essentially a blues label. In 1965, he started Paula Records (obviously named for his wife) as his pop entry. Ronn Records was the R&B outlet, started in 1967.
