Major Bill Smith was an independent record producer and owner of the LeCam Records label in Fort  Worth, Texas.  Bruce Channel's "Hey Baby" was first issued by Major Bill on Le Cam, as was young Delbert McClinton with Bill Deal & the Rondels,  "Last Kiss" by J. Frank Wilson, and "Hey Paula" by Paul & Paula - also known as Jill & Ray. 
In the late 1980's Major Bill claimed he was the manager for Elvis and that Elvis was very much alive. 
He died in September, 1994.
